Simeon Priestley- a Mount Zion characer
Simeon Priestly is known as Mount Zion's longest chapel keeper and sexton (officer of the church), for 40 years between 1849-1889. He took an active and prominent role in the church, including a teacher at the Sunday school and was well-known and respected by the community. There are two articles on our website from the Halifax Courier, 1892, Simeon Priestly Funeral and a eulogy in 1899, titled an "Ovenden Character" recollecting his "quaint saying and doings".
