The Baptismal records of Mount Zion Chapel are on microfilm in the Archives of the Halifax Public Library

They are now also available online at ancestry.co.uk. They were placed there in 2013 as a result of an agreement between Ancestry and the West Yorkshire Archive Service. Images of the original registers are available, together with indexed transcriptions (although these should be treated with caution).

The registers available online are:

Piece 3407: Ovenden, Zion Chapel (Methodist New Connexion), 1779-1800

Piece 3408: Ovenden, Zion Chapel (Methodist New Connexion), 1800-1823

Piece 3409: Ovenden, Zion Chapel (Methodist New Connexion), 1818-1829

Piece 3410: Ovenden, Zion Chapel (Methodist New Connexion), 1824-1837

Ancestry is a subscription website, but it can also be accessed without charge at most public libraries with internet access, and at branches of WYAS.

So, with a bit of luck it should be possible for interested researchers to find online the baptism, (and in some instances birth), marriage, and death/burial of members of the Mount Zion congregation.

The registers for St John the Baptist Church, Ovenden, Halifax, are also on Ancestry, apparently from 1517 - 1935 with gaps.

Many Thanks to Nick Higton for these links!
