One of the unique aspects of this website is the way you can interact with the graves in the graveyard:
We would greatly appreciate any donations that will help contribute towards the maintenance and upkeep of Mount Zion Methoidst Heritage Chapel.
We use the platform Dona, approved by The Methodist Church. If eligible, donating through Gift Aid means we can claim an extra 25p for every £1 you give.
Alternatively, if you would prefer to make a donation via bank transfer or cheque, contact Matthew Townsend,
easyfundraising partners with over 7,500 brands who will donate part of what you spend to a cause of your choice. It won't cost you any extra. The cost is covered by the brand.
Brands pay us a commission because when you start your shop from the easyfundraising website or app, they can see we sent you to them. If you make a purchase, a commission is generated, and we turn that into a donation - magic!

A warm welcome from our Minister: Rev'd Kathie Heathcoat,
.
I am passionate about equality for every member of society, and support Fair Trade wherever I can. I enjoy leading worship, particularly using images, poetry and music to bring people closer to God; going out into the community to meet people; engaging in schools work; sharing in Bible Study; and encouraging all people to explore the spiritual side of being human.

A burial ground dating back to the Bronze Age looking after the grounds and buildings in this wonderful location is an absolute privilege. We are but custodians for a short period in time. In the words of Charles Wesley himself once etched onto a window of the cottage "Time how short...eternity how long."

Mount Zion is set in an idylic landscape. It is a privellage to help share the word of this beautiful building and the important role the chapel played founding Methodism.

Clearing and tidying the graves of total strangers long since passed away might seem odd to some, but it provides me with a sense of achievement and reveals to visitors the memorials long hidden by moss, heather and weeds. Gardening in the graveyard gives me a sense of calm and tranquillity that is difficult to find elsewhere. As echoed on many gravestones...'Peace, perfect peace'.
A huge thank you to all of our volunteers and friends at Illingworth Moor Methodist Church
